On Friday, the 7/8 grade Concert Chorus, Select Chorus, Lady Falcon Singers and Symphonic Band all went to Great East. Everyone performed at the top of their game, which made our school look incredibly good.
I want to use this post to congratulate all groups and talk specifically about them.
For the 7/8 grade chorus, I am proud of the level you performed at. Your group watched everything I did, had good expression, and everyone sang out. The chorus score that we got of 89, and 90 were among the highest scores that our chorus has achieved, and I am very happy with how we did. For the concert, we will focus on having more dynamic contrast and not rushing.
For the select chorus, I was ecstatic with how well you sounded. Sing we and chant it was full of open energy and a good balance and blend. And So It Goes was handled delicately with great dynamics and great solo work. Our two scores of 92 and 90 were the highest scores the select chorus has achieved and it speaks highly of all of you. For the concert, we will work on uniform vowels for fa la las and of course, "Tears in Heaven."
To the Lady Falcons, I cannot begin to express how thrilled I was for your group. Achieving a platinum medal is really reserved for very high caliber groups and usually goes to large schools that provide ample time for ensembles (ie every day or every other) and students who take voice lessons. The amount of time you put in after school is commendable and I'm proud of all of you for taking ownership of the group. We aren't perfect by any means as we struggled with blending all parts. With that said, you've done exceptional and I look forward to showing off our plaque at the concert.
Thank you all for a great year and please realize that our year is still not over. Let's finish strong!
