5th/6th Grade Mixed Chorus
Students in 5th/6th Grade Mixed Chorus sing together in a mixed setting of three part music. Students at this level work on more advanced music and in addition to their rehearsal (twice a week)meet in smaller sectionals to ensure student success in reading and singing music. There are several solo opportunities and students will sing music that are in foreign languages including and not limited to Spanish, Russian, Italian and French. The 5th & 6th Grade Mixed Chorus will perform in two concerts over the course of the school year:
One in the winter and one in the spring.

7th/8th Grade Concert Chorus
Students in 7th and 8th Grade Chorus are challenged to sing upper middle to high school level repertoire which is in four parts. In addition to performing at the Winter and Spring concerts, students are adjudicated at the Great East Competition where they get evaluated and are given a clinic to help them become better performers and musicians. Students in 7th and 8th grade chorus meet during STEAM twice a week and once for sectionals. Select Chorus
Select Chorus is HMS’s elite choral ensemble which meets three times a week before school at 6:45. Entrance is by audition and students who are chosen receive extra credit points every quarter toward their final chorus grade. The membership of the group is between 18 and 24 students and consists of 6-8th grade students. Select Chorus performs regularly like the other groups but in addition, they perform all community requested events (such as nursing homes, caroling in winter, performing at Willington Day, Memorial Day, etc.)
